The Summer of 1965 and young Willie is filled with the life of the idyllic old pearling port Broome - fishing, hanging out with his mates, and when he can, his girl Rosie. However his mother Theresa has great hopes for him and she returns him to the religious mission for further schooling. After being punished by Father Benedictus for an act of youthful rebellion, Willie runs away from the mission. Down on his luck he meets Uncle Tadpole, and together they con a couple of hippies, Annie and Slippery into taking them on the 3,000 km journey through spectacular landscape back to Broome. Back in Broome, Willie wins the girl, convinces his mother that Broome is the place he should be, and discovers that the father he never knew he had is his journeyman companion all along - Uncle Tadpole. What part would Geoffrey play? I'm sure the role wouldn't be Uncle Tadpole because that would be plaued by Ernie Dingo. Father Bendictus? Slippery? Leave a comment | |

| Sep. 7th, 2007 07:03 pm What I found about Geoffrey's Injuries Found this link about parties at TIFF:

"And stars were turning the heads of even the party veterans. Alexandra Weston gushed that she'd just met Sean Penn. "I never introduce myself to celebrities but he's just so amazing," she said, in an avant-garde Yohji Yamamoto mini-dress. Over at the bar, Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush sipped a double vodka, while he embellished the story behind the tiny wound on his forehead. "You should have seen how bad the other Aussie got it. That Russell Crowe, he certainly had it coming." In all seriousness, the Pirates of the Caribbean madman said he absentmindedly walked into a tree. "
Dom't know if it''s true - but it's not as exciting as some of the other possibilities mentioned on this board.

| Jun. 25th, 2007 09:55 pm I think I Want To Die - Not Off Topic I've been going through some major bad times for the last year and a half. My husband left me and the divorce is taking a year and a half due to lousy lawyers and a greedy (hopefully soon to be Ex). One of the saving graces of my life has been that I've been building a library of Geoffrey Rush films and I watch this beautiful guy whenever I get depressed or unhappy. Depending on my mood I'll watch different movies. I had copies of them all - "Quills", "Swiming Upsteam", "Life and Death of Peter Sellers", "Mystery Men", "Frida", two copies of POTC 1 (including the Lost Disc with "Becoming Barbossa", POTC 2, Tailor of Panama, etc. About everything you can get on DVD except for "House on Haunted Hill" - just couldn't justify spending the money although Mr. Rush did the best he could and the Australian Film "Dad and Dave"? Anyhow, I got home today after a very unsettling meeting with a lawyer and I came inside the house (that I have to sell to give the Ex half) and someone had broken in by busting a window and stolen my DVD Recorder, most of my DVDs that were in plain sight including basically my whole Geoffrey Rush collection and a few other things. They even went to the master bedroom and didn't take the DVD player but took my DVDs (including Pirates I) that were there.
Needless to say I'm really bummed out now. The thing that bothers me most is not the DVD Recorder or the other things, but my Geoffrey Rush collection - my respite from the real world into the world of Pirates, Tailors, Trotsky, Master Villains, problematic fathers and pelicans (Yeah, they got Nemo too).
Oh, well. Here goes another two years to reassemble my collection of the recorded work of greatest actor on this planet.
Not writing this for sympathy (well, partially), but I thought my fellow Rushies would understand this great loss and with the small possibility that Mr. Rush might be reading, to let him know that his work uplifts people's spirits and that he is appreciated and hthat is work transports his viewers to a place where we can escape for a while from the (sometimes) grimness of reality.
Anyhow, thank God for Geoffrey Rush! Long may he live! (I know, a bit dramatic! I'll get my collection back together and I'll feel better again, but at least there's Daily Journal and Daily Motion to view meanwhile)
